Repl.it

Repl.it is a San Francisco-based start-up and an online IDE (integrated development environment).[4] Its name comes from the acronym REPL, which stands for "read–evaluate–print loop". The service was created by Jordanian programmers Amjad Masad,[2] Faris Masad,[3] and Jordanian designer Haya Odeh[2] in 2016. Repl.it allows users to write code and build apps and websites using a browser.[5] Additionally, Repl.it allows users to share projects. Interactive programming environments are referred to as "Repls" by the service. Users can create workspaces for projects in popular programming language, granting them access to containers, in which the code is executed. Over 50 programming languages are supported, including popular languages such as Python, Ruby, and Java, as well as lesser-known or esoteric languages like LOLCODE and Brainfuck.

Monaco, also used by Visual Studio Code, is used as the editor component. Ace is used by the mobile version of the site.

Repl.it has a paid plan, the "Hacker plan". It grants access to more storage space, private code, and unlimited collaborators on projects. The GitHub Student Developer Pack includes 6 months of the Hacker plan for free.[6]

In Repl.it, points called "Cycles" are used to count upvotes for the Repl.it talk, similar to Reddit karma.

The company has received funding from Y Combinator, Andreessen Horowitz, Bloomberg Beta, and others.[1] The service has over 200,000 weekly active developers[4] and over 3 million users. The Repl.it site also has a Talk forum.[7] The forum is used by many developers to share their projects.
